The Whispering Tundra is a land of desolate beauty and unforgiving cold—a flat, treeless expanse that for most of the year is cloaked in snow and battered by winds. Only in the brief summer months does the tundra soften, its topsoil thawing into spongy mosses and stubby wildflowers that race to bloom and seed before the freeze returns. The region earns its name from an eerie phenomenon: the constant winds that scour the tundra’s surface often whistle through rocky outcrops and frozen gullies, creating a sound like faint murmuring voices carrying across the plains. To the native goliath shamans, these are the Whispers of the Ancestors—they believe the voices of long-departed heroes ride the wind, offering guidance or warning to those who listen. Some even say the wind carries the distant debate of gods: Karma and Doli, justice and deceit, arguing over the fate of mortal souls. This mystical atmosphere imbues the Whispering Tundra with an almost sacred aura. It is the ancestral homeland of the goliaths (the First Ones), a place where every standing stone and ancient cairn tells a story of survival, and where the boundary between the living and the spirit world feels as thin as a sheet of ice underfoot.
