The Verdant Weald is the lush, beating heart of Eldervast’s civilization, a broad basin of fertile land and gentle forests where humanity reclaimed its hope after generations of darkness. Centered around the illustrious city of Brightcrown, the Weald spreads outward in a patchwork of golden wheatfields, tidy vineyards, and ancient groves left wild to honor the gods of nature. It is often called the “Breadbasket of Eldervast” for its seemingly endless abundance. But the Verdant Weald is more than farmland—it is a land alive with mythic resonance. Country lanes wind past mossy stones said to mark where martyrs of Theomir’s Exodus fell and were buried. Wayside shrines to Thraia (goddess of sun and life) and Deo (patron of law and leadership) stand under huge elm trees, draped with wildflowers by passing travelers. Amid the tilled earth and thriving villages, pockets of deep green remain: enchanted woods and druidic glades reminding all that this prosperity is a gift of the earth. The overall impression of the Weald is one of balance—here the plow and the oak root coexist, the sacred and the mundane intertwined. After the liberation from Garmathian tyranny, it was in the Verdant Weald that humans built their first free realm, and their capital Brightcrown still shines as a symbol of that triumph—a city of learning, chivalry, and faith rising from the sea of green.
